NE555: Output behaviour in case of fault + NA555 differences

Part Number: NE555
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: NA555

Hi,

Is it possible to know in the event of a breakdown of the integrated circuit how the output behaves?

Does the output always go low or for some reason could it also remain always active?
I am interested in knowing this especially in the event of a breakdown due to use at an excessive temperature.

Are there any differences to take into account in the operation of NE555 and NA555?

Thank you,

Antonio

  • Hi Antonio,

The only difference between the NE555 and NA555 are the operating temperatures. NA555: -40C to 105C. NE555: 0C to 70C. Otherwise, they are functionally the same.

Unfortunately, the output of a broken device is unpredictable. It's possible that the output could be low or high, there is no definitive answer.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Best,

    Katlynne Jones
