CDCE62005: Why clock could output when AUX IN is connected to GND?

Part Number: CDCE62005

Hi Team,

When AUX IN(pin43)is floating, there is no output in differential clock.

But when AUX IN(pin43)is connected to GND, there is output in differential clock. Why clock could output when AUX IN is connected to GND?

  • Hello Amelie,

The datasheet describes a Colpitts oscillator inside the AUX IN circuit. Perhaps when the pin is floating there is no oscillator feedback, but when the pin is grounded there is some feedback.

Regardless, the AUX IN path should not be used or connected to the outputs unless AUX IN is connected to a crystal.

    Regards,
