LMK61E08: Cannot find LMK61E08 in TICS Pro

Part Number: LMK61E08
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK61E0M, LMK61E2, CODELOADER, LMK61E2EVM

Hello everyone,

The datasheet in the chapter 9.2.2.3 Device Programming says:

"The EVM softwaretool TICS Pro/Oscillator Programming Tool can be used to program the device with the desired configuration."

But i cannot find the part LMK61E08 in the it tool, version v1.7.2.0.

Alternative:

In the software tool TICS Pro/Oscillator I only found the LMK61E0M part. Is it also possible to programm the LMK61E2 part? Or do I need the Code Loader 4 program for this (the datasheet also say so)?

Code Loader 4 feels very buggy. When I select the LMK61E2 part, the program crashes with the error message: "Run-time error '6': overflow".

Can someone help? Thanks!

  • Hi Frank,

For LMK61E08 you can use the LMK61E2 profile that exists on codeloader -  the register mapping is exactly the same, just different pin count / assignment. But once you establish communication, you can program using GUI.

You are correct that there are no released TICSpro profiles for the device.

Does the codeloader crash every time? It is an older software and perhaps it hasn't been kept up to date. I'll look into getting the profile for you on TICSpro.

    Thanks and regards,

    Amin

  • Hi Amin,

Does the codeloader crash every time?

Yes, I start the progam and after I select the LMK61K2 part the program crashes with the message: "Run-time error '6' Overflow".

Note: I only start the program and have no evalboard or component connected to the pc

I'll look into getting the profile for you on TICSpro.

This sounds good. In the following topic, your colleague Noel Fung says its always possible to work with TICSpro and the evalboard LMK61E2EVM. Can you confirm this?

  • Hi Frank,

Yes, that is correct. You can generate configurations using TICSpro with no part connected.

Okay let me figure out how to share the TICS profile with you.

  • Hi Amin,

In my opinion, you have not yet answered one question:

This sounds good. In the following topic, your colleague Noel Fung says its always possible to work with TICSpro and the evalboard LMK61E2EVM. Can you confirm this?

Okay let me figure out how to share the TICS profile with you.

Can you send me a private message here? Then I will reply with my email address.

    Many thanks in advance!

  • Hi Frank,

I misread your question as can TICSpro be used without a part/evm connected. Hence my answer:

    • "Yes, that is correct. You can generate configurations using TICSpro with no part connected."

But now re-reading it, that is not your question. What exactly is the question? Is it with regards to the possibility of using TICSpro with LMK61E2 EVM?

The answer to that is Yes. You just need to have the right profile which is not available on TICSpro web release. I've attached the profile to this post. Please use these steps to open up the profile:

    1. Open TICSpro
    2. Go under "Select Device" menu item and click "Import User Device"
    3. Select the zip file I have attached below as the user device (do NOT unzip this file)

This LMK61E2 profile can be used for LMK61E08 programming as well, as long as you properly establish connection with the device.

    Thanks and regards,

    Amin

  • Hi Amin,

    many thanks for your answer.

Now all questions are answered and I can go forward.

    Have a nice day ahead
