CDCLVD1208: Fail-safe Function

Hi,

Good day.

Our customer is using the CDCLVD1208 and they see that this has a fail-safe function. Does that means when the LVDS input is disconnected, the output will in a steady state?

Furthermore, they have find the output clock pins OUTP0 and OUTN0 are in high state when the device inputs are floating. What should they do to make the outputs pulled to ground?

    As stated after the 'fail-safe function' in the datasheet, the outputs will be disabled when there is a lack of input.

    When the Input Select pin is left open the outputs are disabled. Is this an option?

    For the 2nd statement, is there a way to make the outputs pulled to ground when the inputs are floating? Is this possible? If yes, can you please let us know how they can make it. Thank you.

    After discussing with internal team the 'failsafe' refers to an esd failsafe of the inputs. This means that you can apply some voltage to the inputs without causing backdrive to the CDCLVD power supply (leakage, power-up issues) – which you would have on traditional ESD protected inputs with diodes to supply.

    Please advise if input pin is kept floating and no input frequency or if pins are kept tied while no input frequency.
