LMK00306: Does it have any benefit on multiple power supply pins?

Part Number: LMK00306

Hi team,

I'm looking into LMK00306 and Si53301 to compare advantage/disadvantage of each part. While checking the pin-out, I found LMK00306 is larger (6x6mm 36-pin over 5x5mm 32-pin of Si53301) and the additional 4-pins consist of power supply pin and GND pin. I wonder if the multiple power supply pins (VCC, VCCOA, VCCOB) have any benefit over Si53301.

In addition, if LMK00306 has any particular benefit over Si53301, please let me know. Thank you for your great help!

  • Hi Ella,

The larger number of supply pins means that each output driver is much closer to its internal LDO and bypassing. This will lead to improved EMI for LMK00306, though I admit I have not tested this. The total current remains similar - Si53301 has 65mA typical core current, plus 6 * 35mA for six LVPECL 3.3V outputs; LMK00306 has around 50-70mA typical core current (depending on output format - 50mA for LVPECL) plus 2 * 100mA for six LVPECL 3.3V outputs. Based on the slew rate vs additive jitter graphs in LMK00306 datasheet, and the corresponding differential slew rate additive jitter measurements in Si53301 datasheet, performance is similar. Also, with larger package, LMK00306 will have slightly better thermals.
