DAC5578: Output pull down at device reset

Part Number: DAC5578
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC53204

HI Expert,

My customer is considering about the dynamic voltage scaling for DCDC output with DAC5578. (DAC5578 is reused from prior project)

https://www.ti.com/lit/an/sbaa342a/sbaa342a.pdf

Does DAC5578 has pull down register at device reset?

Could you please let me know the output state at device reset?

Thanks

Muk

  • Hi Mukuno-san,

At startup the TSSOP version is at zero-code, which is low impedance.  The QFN version has a RSTSEL pin that determines if the output starts at zero-scale or mid-scale, also low-impedance.  The device has a power-down mode setting, but it is no in power-down mode by at RESET.

I have seen that in most voltage margining application for DCDC, the customer requires very high impedance on the output when the device is in reset or even powered off.  For this reason we have created the new SmartDAC DAC53204 that has a true high-impedance mode at startup and power-off condition.  It also supports a current output mode that makes supply margining easier as well.  This seems like a great opportunity for the device.

    Thanks,

    Paul
