ADS1260: Schematic check for uA-measurement solution

Part Number: ADS1260
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1261EVM

Hi sir,

For the uA solution of ADS1260:

-R-shunt = 500mΩ for much buffer of avoiding noise.

-Vref = 4.5V

-Vshunt_Max = Isense_Max x Rshunt = 50mA x 500mΩ = 25mV

-Dynamic Range = Isense_Max / Iresolution = 50mA / 1uA = 50000

-Vresolution = Vsense_Max / Dynamic Range  = 0.5uV

Here is my Schematic for ADS1260:

NOTE:

(1)LED_5V and GND_LDO (5V ) are from TPS7A4701RGW.

(2)REFP and REFN (4.5V) are  from REF6045DGK.

Is this schematic alright to use ?

If something I missed, please let me know.

  • Hi Jax,

    Some comments from my side:

    • It looks like you have several different ground connections (AVSS, DGND, GND). The analog and digital ground should be tied to the same continuous ground plane in most cases, so I would caution against a split ground plane.
    • You have the START pin pulled high to DVDD, which means the ADC will default to a converting state. I am not sure how you intend to control conversions (START pin or START command), but you should keep in mind that this is what you current system is doing

Otherwise everything looks similar to the ADS1261EVM.
