ADS1262: Oversampling

Part Number: ADS1262

Hey TI team,

We want to know about oversampling and how to apply it for ADS1262.

Regards,

Venkatavel.

  • Hi Venkatavel,

Delta-sigma ADCs are inherently oversampling converters. They take many samples at a high data rate (the modulator frequency), average these samples together, and provide this information at a much lower data rate (the output data rate, or ODR).

You could also perform the same functionality in software by taking many ADC conversions, averaging them together, and getting one output result. This slows down your overall throughput but can improve the noise performance (as long as the noise has a Gaussian distribution).
