ADS1292: What is the Phase Shift?

Part Number: ADS1292

Hi team,

My customer uses ADS1292 for respiration measurement. They want to know what the Phase Shift function is? Will it influent the respiration measurement? How to set this parameter?  Does it need to be configured according to different people? Thansk.

  • Hi Yuting,

    Thanks for the post.

The respiration phase setting is used to optimize the respiration channel noise depending on the respiration modulation clock frequency and gain setting. Please refer to Figures 70 and 71 of the datasheet for different phase setting and noise relationships. These plots show a couple of suggested Gain and Phase settings for respiration modulation clock frequencies of 32kHz and 64kHz.

You may also find the "Respiration Rate Measurement Based on Impedance Pneumography" appnote helpful in explaining some of the gain and phase relationships for the respiration modulation and demodulation signals.

    Thanks
