ADS131M08: error source calculation in BTS system

According to the TIDA-010086, we found that ADS131MXX is a very good choice for the battery test system.

We want to calculate the error which is caused by the ADC in the TIDA-010086, but we can’t found more description in the datasheet or TIDA-010086 design guide about which spec we need to focus when the ADC is used in BTS.

  1. Could you please share any document about how to calculate the error caused by ADC in BTS system, taking TIDA-010086 as an example?
  2. I have finished the “TI Presicion Labd-ADC”, and I found that we may focus on the INL,offset error,offset drift, gain error and gain drift. But I am confused about the connection of the INL and other spec. Does it mean the INL include the offset error and gain error so we just need focus on the INL spec when we calculate the error caused by ADC in BTS system ?

    Thank you for your post.

    We do not have an error calculator for BTS, but I'm glad you found our online TI Precision Labs - ADCs training on error calculation! Regarding the different specs, I do not believe INL is important for this application. Gain and offset can be calibrated, so the biggest error source in the ADC will be gain error drift, which is typically dominated by the reference voltage drift.

    1/f noise in the current sense amplifier is also important to keep to a minimum in these applications.
