DAC53608EVM: Data cannot set while Power Down Mode

Part Number: DAC53608EVM

Dear Specialists,

My customer is evaluating DAC53608EVM and has a question.

I would be grateful if you could advise.

---

We are confirming DAC53608EVM by connecting our original control board.

LDAC=-(non synchronous mode)

If it was set to power down mode in DEVICE_CONFIG

DACx_DATA could not be set.

After rewriting DEVICE_CONFIG from the initial value 0xFF to 0x00

When I rewrote it to DACx_DATA, the voltage could be output.

Are these behaviors correct in the device specifications?

---

I appreciate your great help in advance.

Best regards,

Shinichi

  • Hi Shinichi,

I think the customer should still be able to write to the DACx_DATA registers. When the outputs are set to power up mode in DEVICE_CONFIG then the outputs should go to the data in the DACx_DATA registers. The DAC outputs will not update when in power down mode. The DACx_DATA registers are write only, so it may look like they aren't being written to when the outputs are in power down mode.

It is not made clear in the datasheet. If the customer has seen that they have to rewrite the DACx_DATA registers after setting the outputs to power up mode in DEVICE_CONFIG, even if the DACx_DATA registers were written before, then I can check with the design team to confirm.

  • Hi Katlynne,

    Thank you for your reply.

I understand the DAC outputs will not update when in power down mode.

When they have an additional question, I consult you again.

I appreciate your great help and cooperation.

    Best regards,

    Shinichi

  • Hi Shinichi,

I will close this thread for now. Please reply here or start a new thread when you have any additional questions.

  • Hi Katlynne,

    Thank you for your reply.

The customer understood your advice and fix the problem.

The customer confirmed that the value rewritten to DAC_DATA during the power-down mode was changed when the power-down mode was released.

I appreciate your great help and cooperation.

    Best regards,

    Shinichi
