ADS1114: ADS1114's Channel and circuit questions

Part Number: ADS1114
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1115,

Dear Sir or Madam.
Hello, I am making our EVB.

I should use ADC 2channels. because of measuring a Voltage of between Load's positive and negative.

I used ADS1115 that has 4-channels-single-end.
So it operated good-well.

I got to know this chip is operated good in my experiment.
Continuously, I want to use this,
but ADS1115's IC has been shortage in market.

So I try to change ADS1115 to ADS1114 as below.

Could you review this circuit whether it operate good-well or not?

Additionally, I have known that DS-ADC's circuit need to RC filter. but ,in case of ADS1115, got to know it doesn't need it in my experiment.
So, Doesn't the ADS1114 need to RC filter, too?

I look forward to your reply.
Thank you for reading my questions.

Best regards

  • Hello Taehwan,

The difference between the ADS1115 and ADS1114 is the number of differential/SE channels. Other than this, the devices are identical. So the schematic looks good in my opinion.

However, you mentioned the use of RC filter at the inputs. It is generally recommended to add a simple RC filter to prevent aliasing and noise. Since you seem to not need one for the ADS1115, the same should apply to the ADS1114. That being said, I still think some RC filter footprints should still be added in case they are needed.

  • Hello Aaron.

Thank you for your detailed reply.

Just in case, I will add the RC filter footprints in circuit.

    Have a good day!
