ADS1261: ADS1261EVM Level shifters

Part Number: ADS1261
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TXS0108E,

Hi everyone,

I am planning to use the ADS1261 with a C2000 F28XX.

I looked at the schematic of the ADS1261EVM and there are multiple TXS0108E level shifters for the SPI between the ADC and the uC but both are supplied by 3V3 by default.

Is it only for the case where we apply an external DVDD for the ADC? this means DVDD and LVDD1, LVDD2 need to be the same on the connector J6?

Thank you

  • Hi Alexis,

J6 is an interface point where the EVM can be connected to an external micro.  The level shifters could be used in one of 2 cases.  The first is by using an external DVDD/IOVDD where the voltage is something other than 3.3V.  The other use case is for external connection of a different micro than the onboard Tiva.  In this case you would add the jumper to hold the Tiva in a reset state which disables the level shifters to prevent any driver contention from an external micro.

In a normal use case you would not need to use the level shifters but instead keep the IO voltage the same on both the ADS1261 and the C2000.

    Best regards,
