AFE5808AEVM: Troubles to launch AFE5808A GUI

Part Number: AFE5808AEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AFE5807EVM

Hi,

After purchasing an AFE5808AEVM board, I have been trying to launch the GUI following the instructions provided by TI in the user guide (SLOU328B). When I do that, an error message related with FTDI happens (Fig1). After that, a second error happens (Fig2). Then the app closes itself and no more actions can be done. I have installes the GUI in Windows 7 and Windows 10, but both are the same.

Best,
C.J.

  • Hi Carlos,

Apologies for delayed response. Is the issue still there ? or it is resolved ? This kind of issue can occur when FTDI drivers are not installed properly. Could you uninstall and re-install the GUI again ? While reinstalling please make sure that FTDI driver installation is selected.

    Regards,
    Kalyan

  • Hi,

No, the issue still remains. I have reinstalled the GUI, following carefully the instructions, but is the same. I have the same problem with another AFE5807EVM board.

    Regards,
    C.J.

  • Hi Carlos,

Did you try using with different USB cable ? Could you share us the setup picture ?

  • Hi Bellala,

I have finally solved the problem: USB cable must be disconnected till complete the installation (not only the USB driver, but also the GUI). The sentence "Upon complete of USB installation, connect USB cable!!!" that appears when the USB driver has been installed is confuse. I was assuming that at that time I had to connect the USB cable, and then proceed with the GUI installation. However, if I do so, the PC doesn't recognize the FTDI drivers. If I keep the USB cable disconnected till the batch file is fully executed (including the GUI instalation), everything works fine.

    Regards,
    C.J.
