ADS1298: maximum speed of the SPI

Part Number: ADS1298
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1292,

Hello everyone, hope this finds you well~

My question is about the SPI speed of the ADS129X family.

I checked the previous post, Mr. alexander mentioned in one post that the maximum speed of SCLK is 20MHz with DVDD of 2.7V~3.6V. However, I found the ‘timing requirement: serial interface’ among all series of ADS129x is the same. In the datasheet of the ADS1292, it mentioned ‘SCLK can be only twice the speed of fCLK…Having the 2.048 MHz option allows for register read and writes to be performed at SCLK speeds up to 4.096 MHz’, while in the other datasheet there is no such description. My question is what is the maximum speed of the SPI? Especially for the ADS1298/1299 series? because if the internal core of the ADS129x is the same, it indicates the maximum speed of the ADS1298/1299 is 4.096MHz, which directly restricts the maximum sampling rate of the system with multichannel.

Looking forward to your reply~

All the best

  • Hi Zeyu,

Welcome to the E2E forum !!!

Please refer to the specific device datasheet for the SPI interface timing requirement and the maximum SCLK frequency. The ADS1298/1299 SPI interface timing and the maximum frequency are as described by the post from Alex. The ADS1292 core is not the same as the ADS1298/99 device, so the SPI timing requirement differs.

    Thanks

  • Good hearing from you, TC!. Many thanks for your nice suggestion. If ADS1298/1299 could support SPI speed up to 20MHz, it would be good news for our team since we could explore the full potential of these series.

    Have a good day~
