DAC80004EVM: ready to use SW to evaluate DAC?

Part Number: DAC80004EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC80004, DXP,

Team,

Can you please clarify what option are available to evaluate the DAC80004.
See below questions:

a)Apparently the DXP SW (that was originally used for DAC EVM eval) can only be used with the MM0 card (VC5509 based).
-Is this card still available? I can not find it anywhere.
Also it have read on the E2E froum some difficulties to use the SW on Win 10.
   For example: https://e2e.ti.com/support/data-converters-group/data-converters/f/data-converters-forum/633722/mmb0-evalboard-driver-problem?tisearch=e2e-sitesearch&keymatch=DAC80004%252520dxp#
-Is DXP SW + MMO card still the recommended SW for DAC evaluation?

b)DAC initilisation:
Is there a specific register sequence needed for initialization of the registers (what registers, with what value in what order)?
Do we have a SW lib that or code example that would show this init sequence?
Do we have for example any SPI SW example using TI MCU MSP430, CC13/CC26xxx, F28002x launchpad board in order to get stared?

Thanks in advance!

A.

  • Hi A.,

    a. The MMB0 platform is not well supported by Windows 10, so it generally no recommended for customer evaluation.  The DAC80004EVM will need to be updated at some point to a new platform. The EVM itself is little more than a break-out board, so any simple SPI generator can be used.

    b.  By default, the DAC outputs are enabled, so you just need to write to the input registers of the desired channels, then issue some kind of LDAC command.

    Thanks,

    Paul
