Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS124S08, MSP430F5438
I am having difficulty communicating with the ADS124S08 on the ADS124S08EVM board. I have all communication lines connected to each other correctly, CS-CS, DRDY-DRDY, SCLK-SCLK, SDI(DIN)-MOSI, SDO(DRDY/DOUT)-MISO. I also have our GND connected to the main GND on the ADS124S08EVM board in the bottom left (picture below for reference).
I also have the following Jumper configurations.
JP1 - shorted, JP5 - shorted, JP6 - shorted, JP7 - shorted, JP8 (1-2), JP9 (2-3), JP11 (1-2), JP12 (none), JP13 (1-2), JP14 (2-3)
I am then using AIN1 (+) and AIN0 (-) as my inputs to the ADS124S08 to read voltage from a calibrated voltage source.
When I step in the debugger I am not reading the correct register values when I send a reset command to the ADS124S08. So I think I don't have communication setup properly with the ADS124S08, or a jumper is improperly placed. I was able to establish communication last time when I isolated the communication lines by removing the resistors and not shorting JP1. For some reason shorting JP1 like the instructions recommend and connecting corresponding communication lines don't seem to work when someone wants to communicate over SPI from this evaluation board to another micro(MSP430F5438).
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. We have been trying to confirm why our ADS124S08 isn't as linear on our PCB vs the evaluation board for the ADS124S08.
