ADS4222: How to synchronize two pcs ADS4222

Part Number: ADS4222

Hello,

I am using 2 pcs ADS4222 to achieve 4 channels ADC as oscilloscope.

But How to synchronize the sampling for these 4 channels?

  • Xiaoqiang,

You will have to make sure both parts are seeing the input clock at the same time. You would have to use either a 0 skew buffer and route the traces the same length, or split the output from a single source and again use match trace length.

    Jim

  • So use one LVCMOS oscillator to drive 2 pcs ADS4222 should work, right?

  • It depends on the frequency, trace length, and how much drive the oscillator can provide. If the trace length is to long between the ADC's, you may start getting reflections. To help with reflections you would normally terminate both ends of the CLK at the ADC's. This may then cause an issue with the oscillator not being able to provide enough drive. It would be best to simulate this if possible.

If you daisy chain the routing and only terminate at the end, one ADC will see the clock before the other.
