ADS1015: sampling time

Hi team,

My customer operate ADS1015 in single-shot mode with single ended signals.

For the part, is the sampling time 4us? When we sent the command for a single shot conversion, is the wait time for the conversion to be complete the following:

Wait time = WakeUpTime (25us) + Sampling time + [Conversion time( 1/Data rate) + 10% ]

I want to measure that the sampling time is 4us on the device and I was thinking of measuring the time difference when the conversion command is issued to when the OS bit in the config register turns from 0 to 1 when read. The time difference will be the wait time and from that my customer can figure out the sampling time as they know the other time variables.

Hi Connie,

You seem to have the right idea! The sampling rate of the device is 250kHz with equates to sampling every 4us as you mentioned. The conversion time is also, as you mentioned, 1/(Configured Data Rate). Since single shot mode requires the device to enter a power down state after storing a conversion result, there is a required wake up time for the ADC to power on (~20us).
