ADC0808-N: Comparison to ADC0809

Part Number: ADC0808-N

Hi Team,

Can you help with that?

Unfortunately, the common data sheet of the two does not reveal much about the differences and raises questions:
- Different temperature ranges are specified for the two ADCs.
o Can you specify more precisely how the ADC0808 behaves at 0-70°C?
o (How accurate is the ADC0809 at 25°C?).
- What is the composition of the deviations? Is it possible that we can compensate for systematic errors through our calibration processes and be more accurate here?
- What other differences are there between the ADC0808 and the ADC0809?

Thanks

Jan

  • Hi Jan,

I don't really have any history on the ADC0808 vs. the ADC0809 to share with you.  One thing to note though is that they actually both have the same temperature range of -40C to +85C (see page 2).  With the TUE for the ADC0808 from Tmin to Tmax being +/-3/4 LSB and almost double that for the ADC0809, that implies the major difference between the two is a trimming process at final test.  I don't have characterization data to share, so I can't give you a specific number on accuracy of the ADC0809 at 25C other than what is shown in the datasheet.  Assuming you have a 5V reference, you are looking at +/-20mV with the ADC0809 vs. +/-10mV for the ADC0808.  As you saw in Note (1), TUE includes offset, full-scale and linearity errors.  An initial offset calibration should help.
