ADC3643EVM: kick-back filter design

Part Number: ADC3643EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADC3643

Hi,

The datasheet of ADC364x gives a couple of examples for sampling giltch filter design for the input frequency range: DC to 30MHz, and 30MHz to 70 MHz.

In my case, the input frequency range is about 380MHz to 400 MHz.

What would be a proper glitch filter for this frequency range?

Regards,

  Miguel

  • Hi Miguel,

For an input this this high, you can use a bandpass configuration of the glitch filter, similar to figure 8-5 in the ADC3643 datasheet. In ADS, I have design a filter that may fit your requirements, but may need to tweak to your specifications.

Please also consider utilizing the internal decimation feature of the ADC364x family. If the bandwidth of the signal is narrow (a couple of MHz), you can use complex decimation (along with the NCO) to move the ~400 MHz signal into the post-decimation nyquist zone (FS/2). This will improve SNR, and will filter out a lot of spurs/harmonics that might effect your measurement.

    Best Regards,

  • Hi Dan,

Ok, I will use a bandpass configuration as you propose.  Thanks a lot for your sample design, it will be very useful to me.

    Best Regards,
