ADS8686SEVM-PDK: Connection of external DVDD

Hi,

I have an ADS8686SEVM_PDK evaluation module. I wish to connect the ADS8686 to a microcontroller, so the PHI board will be removed, the microcontroller will communicate using the pins on J18, and +3.3V and GND from the microcontroller will be connected to pins 1 & 2 of T1. The datasheet says to remove R28 if an external DVDD is used, but is that necessary if nothing is connected to J17? The schematics suggest it doesn't have to be removed.

Hi Alan,

Welcome to our e2e forum! The 0-ohm R28 resistor on the ADS8686SEVM-PDK would need to be removed if you continue to use the PHI controller and our evaluation software. If you will not be plugging in the PHI, you are correct - you would not need to remove R28.
