ADC31RF80: Data sheet question

Part Number: ADC31RF80

On page 27 of the data sheet there is a statement

The ADC31RF80 is a single-channel, 14-bit, 2949.12-MSPS, telecom receiver and feedback device containing
an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) followed by multi-band digital down-converters (DDCs), and a back-end
JESD204B digital interface

This statement seems to indicate that the ADC in this device is not a 3000 MSPS ADC but rather a 2949.12 MSPS ADC.  Other parts of the data sheet clearly say that the ADC is a 3000 MSPS device.  What am I missing and why does the data sheet say 14 bit 2949.2 MSPS ADC?

Thanks

  • Hi William,

In section 6.5 Electrical characteristics, typical input clock frequency is given as 3GSPS indicating that 3GSPS is supported.

All the datasheet characterization is done at 2949.12 MSPS as this is a popular telcom sampling rate. As these frequencies are close-by, they are interchangeably used in datasheet.

    Regards,

    Vijay
