DAC38J84EVM: EVM no response

I'm designing my third-party FPGA( XILINX KCU040 kintex ultrascale ) evaluation board with a standard FMC-HPC connector to DAC38J84EVM.
All jumpers at DAC38J84EVM are left untouched.

There are few troubles I encountered and be confued:

1.I connect the EVM through USB to my PC. The GUI shows "CONNECTED".Once I click "1.program and run".The program will run and write data.But once in "Low level view" I click "read register".All data will be set to 1.It seems I canot config it EVEN I try another PC

2.once I connect the 5V Power supply.The LED light will on.Small current sound will be generated from near the LED light.And my power supply voltage will be pull to 3.3V and current ~0.5A.Other LEDs (like D4 -- D7) is never on.

Once I programmed my FPGA,The ALARMS is all on.

is there something wrong?How can I config my EVM board?

Hi,

You will need to follow the DAC38J84's EVM user's guide instructions and set the proper current limit on the 5V rail. Please try to increase the current limit of your power supply and retry the EVM configuration.

thanks!,now I can write and read data from the CPLD in DAC38J84EVM!

But the input current is 0.91A now with a total power over 4Watt. The dac chip is a little hot.Is that OK or I should cool it?

Hi Shuai,

This is the total board power, not just the DAC38j84. You will need to evaluate the DAC operation through the thermal specifications on our datasheet.
