AFE5818: No Connect Pins

Part Number: AFE5818
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AFE58JD28, AFE58JD48,

Hello,

I am creating a schematic for the AFE5818 and a "nice-to-have" for the design is to incorporate the ability to use the AFE58JD28 or the AFE58JD48 as a replacement for the AFE5818. We are thinking about connecting some of the no connect pins to our FPGA because they are used in the JD28 and JD48 designs as the JESD output pins. We want to make sure that the no connect pins on the AFE5818 are truly "no connect" and that they don't have any unknown voltages or anything like that on them, incase we connect them to the FPGA.

Thanks for your help on this matter.

  • Hi Russell,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

Indeed, it is a good idea to incorporate the ability to use other AFEs as  AFE58JD28 and AFE58JD48 etc are pin compatible. We also have some guidelines regarding the pin connection for implementing the same.

Since the devices mentioned above are under NDA restrictions, we cannot share that details on this forum. Hence, I request you to kindly send us a mail on  support_us_afe_tx@list.ti.com highling this E2E request and we shall support you further over the mail.

    Thanks & regards,

    Abhishek
