ADS8578S: Reading in parallel interface mode

Part Number: ADS8578S

Dear sir,

Request you to help me with following queries:

I am programming ADS8578S with 14 bit 8 channel ADC with TMS320F28235PGFA DSP.

I am trying to read data in parallel interface mode.

For this I have made PAR/SER/BYTE SEL pin low for selecting parallel interface.

I have kept CS and RD pin separate and giving both the signals from DSP.

CONVSTA and CONVSTB are tied together and I am giving the CONVST signal from DSP.

While I am reading from different channels,

I am able to read only from channel 1 and all other channels are getting same value.

But while reading from channel 2 - 7, I am not able to see any data.

I have given one unused address of DSP for external ADC of length 1.

Request you to help me with this.

Also for any other information required please reply.

  • Hi Shikhar,

Thanks for choosing ADS8578S in your design. Can you please provide a timing plot with /CONVST,BUSY,/CS and /RD captured with an oscilloscope? Is the data for channel 0 correct for input signal? Your schematic will be very helpful.

    Thanks&regards,

    Dale
