Can CDCE6214 in the eval board ADC3662EVM be programmed using the TICSPRO-SW through the same USB interface used to program the ADC in the eval board?
Thanks,
Gus

Can CDCE6214 in the eval board ADC3662EVM be programmed using the TICSPRO-SW through the same USB interface used to program the ADC in the eval board?

Hi Gus,
No, there is not a direct way to program the CDCE6214 on the ADC3662EVM with custom settings at this time. There is only access to preset sampling frequencies.
Are you able to share what frequencies you are looking to use, and what mode of operation for the ADC3662?
Best,
Dan
Hi Dan - thanks for the quick reply.
The eval board ADC3662EVM has an incorporated 10MHz crystal. I was thinking to use it as input for the CDCE6214 and then one output of the PLL use it as 10MHz for sampling frequency and another one to use it for digital clock for the digitalized data for serial communication (115200 baud rate for example).
Checking the schematic, the mentioned connections are feasible, but in order to generate the mentioned clock trough the CDCE6214 I would have to modify its registers.
Any idea how to accomplish it, if possible?
Thanks,
Gus
Hi Gus,
I don't think there is an elegant way to accomplish this, at the moment. One way might be to solder wires to the I2C SCL/SDA pull up resistors, so that you can force I2C writes to the CDCE6214.
Beyond that, I would say that it is not possible on the ADC3662EVM.
One other option would be to order the CDCE6214EVM.
Best Regards,
Dan
Hi Gustavo,
Populating the 0 ohm resistors will only change the communication bus accessed by the FTDI chip on board. Dan’s suggestion of using a CDCE6214EVM would be the best method to achieve the specifications that you described. In TICSPRO-SW, you will have four output lines to work with and they can be set to your desired frequencies.

Hi Amy,
I understand that using the CDCE6214EVM would be a method to set the CDCE6214 to meet my needs, but how could I integrate it to use it with ADC3662EVM?
So far the CDCE6214 in ADC3662EVM is able to operate with a fix frequency, which is only for example (as described in the User Guide), but there is not desired if different frequencies of operation are required.
Thanks,
Gustavo
Hi Amy,
Check the CDCE6214EVM with more details, and although I was expecting to use only one board, that board will meet my needs.
Thanks, and sorry for my stubbornness,
Gustavo
Hi Gustavo,
These were good questions and I am glad to hear that this will be a workable solution for you. To integrate the CDCE6214EVM, you will want to configure the ADC treating the CDCE6214EVM as an external clock input.
