ADS131E08: RESET while ADC is working

Part Number: ADS131E08

Hi team,

My customer will use ADS131E08 and he is asking a question.

If RESET is unintentionally input while ADS131E08 is working, will the AD conversion stop?

In this case, will output from ADS131E08 be 0000h or FFFFh?

Or will the device continue AD conversion with default setting?

Best regards,

Shota Mago

  • Hello Mago-san,

Thank you for posting your customer's question.

In the case of RESET, the device will lose its register configuration and return to the power-on default state.

Regarding the conversions, the ADS131E08 will automatically resume conversions only if the START pin is high. The device requires 18 tCLK periods for the internal registers to initialize. The digital filter will also receive a reset and the output will require 3 conversion periods to fully settle after conversions resume. Otherwise, if the START pin is low, the customer must send the START command (08h) to resume conversions. DRDYn should idle high while the digital filter is settling (tSETTLE).

    Regards,

    Ryan
