TSW14J10EVM: ADC12DJ3200EVM and KU115 based dev platform

Part Number: TSW14J10EVM

I want to use the TSW14J10EVM as intermediary card between the ADC12DJ3200EVM and my KU115 based FPGA platform (not from XIlinx).

I found in the TSW14J10EVM a setup that does not require FPGA jtag connection between FPGA board and TSW14J10EVM:

ADC12J4000EVM With a Xilinx Zynq ZC706 Development Board Setup Example

My approach would be to connect the three boards, assuming the TSW14J10EVM just listens in on the FMC JESD204B signals, and can export over USB to visualize the spectrum in the HSDC Pro GUI software.

For some reason, the TSW14J10EVM states compatibility with only three FPGA's (Xilinx KC705, ZC706 and VC707 platforms). I don't understand why there would be a compatibility issue as the FMC connection and signals are not FPGA dependent, especially if JTAG is not connected?

Can I use the TSW14J10EVM with HSDC ProGUI as independent man-in-the-middle to both:

  • forward the FMC connection the the ADC as if it was not there,
  • and to export the JESD204B communications to USB to HSDC software?
  • Steven,

The TSW14J10EVM was designed several years ago to provide a user an option to use HSDC Pro GUI on a limited number of Xilinx platforms. If you plan on using a LMFS mode, sample rate, lane mapping, SYNC and SYSREF mapping, and serdes rate that exactly matches something used with a FPGA supported by the TSW14J10EVM, this may work in your case. You will have to load the firmware using another method as HSDC Pro will not have what you need.

A better option is to apply for free JESD204B/C IP from TI that works with most Xilinx FPGA’s. To request this free IP, go the following link: https://www.ti.com/tool/TI-JESD204-IP

This IP comes with example source code and documentation to allow you to capture and analyze data quickly.
