ADS5400: Can LMK04208 be used with ADS5400?

Part Number: ADS5400
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK04208

Hi Expert,

My customer plan to use LMK04208 with ADS5400, are they suitable for use together?

LMK04208 clock out Vpp range = 0.5~0.9V

ADS5400 clock in Vpp range = 0.6~1.5V

Thanks.

  • Ryan,

I see no problem with this. I would suggest using the LMK in LVPECL 1600mv output mode and AC couple the inputs to the ADC with 0.1uF caps. No external termination is required as this resistor is internal on the ADC5400. You will need to have 120 Ohm pull down resistors on the LMK output as shown in Figure 32 of the LMK data sheet but the four bias resistors are not required as the clock input is self biased on the ADS5400. Per the data sheet, "Larger clock amplitude levels are recommended for high analog input frequencies or slow clock frequencies". Using LVPECL 2000mV mode may yield higher performance.

    Regards,
