ADS8694: ADS8664IDBT vs ADS8694IDBT

Part Number: ADS8694
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS8664

Hi,

We are using ADS8664IDBT  in our existing design and planning to use ADS8694IDBT due to higher resolution requirement.

are these chips 1:1 compatible ? I could see pin assignments of both chips are matching and no difference except noise behaviour.

do we need to modify the design for replacing ADS8664 with ADS8694?

  • Hi ,

Both ADCs are fully compatible and you can upgrade your design to 18-bit ADS8694. Note that you need more SCLK clocks because of 18-bit ADC. You may or may not achieve the ADS8694's performance specified in the datasheet in your existing design because a good layout design is important for 18-bit ADC design and also you are splitting the ground which is not usually a problem for a 12-bit ADC. However, it is a good start to directly check ADS8694 on your existing circuit board.

    Best regards,

    Dale
