DAC61416: Supply 5V

Part Number: DAC61416
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC60508

Hi,

Good Day. I have a customer who is working with DAC61416. Please see below his query for your reference. Thank you very much.

We only have 5.0 V on our board and this part comes up in the Digikey and Mouser search as a part that fits this range. Is this part a 5V device?

The description of this device implies it can be powered by 5V. Correct?

I just need to understand if the first page of the datasheet states ranges the support a 5V supply for this device, then is the VCC range a typo, also?

Best Regards,

Ray Vincent

  • Hi Ray,

The VCC is not a typo. This device has separate IO (VIO), digital (VDD), analog (VAA), and output buffer (VCC/VSS) supplies. The VCC supply needs to be at least 9V. It's likely that Digikey and Mouser are only checking the VDD supply.

What are the requirements for their DAC? We can help them find them one that works for them. Are they looking for the high channel count? The high resolution? Or just any 5V DAC?

The DAC60508 might be a good option. It is an 8 channel, 12-bit DAC with a SPI interface similar to the DAC61416.
