ADC3662EVM: Problems integrating the ADC3662EVM (firmware) in the HDSC Pro software

Part Number: ADC3662EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADC3661
Hi Quirin,

Please find below further information provided to the case:

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

We have recently acquired an ADC3662EVM and a TSW1400EVM. We have tried to put them into operation according to the operating instructions (All parts are properly assembled according to the instructions and the ADC35XX EVM GUI has been carried out).

Unfortunately, we encountered problems when using the HSDC Pro software (latest version).

After connecting the software to the TSW1400EVM, we wanted to download the firmware for the ADC3662EVM. However, it is not listed in the list of devices. If we try to use another device, e.g. 3663, the software repeatedly displays the error message that no firmware has been downloaded.

Now we wonder if there is a way to get the right firmware for the software or the ADC3662EVM?

Many thanks in advance.

With kind regards

  • Quirin,

Make sure the 5V source to the TSW1400EVM can source at least 4A. What version of HSDC Pro are you using? Can you send a screen shot of the HSDC Pro GUI when you get this message?

    Regards,

    Jim

  • Build  - 03/08/2021 But there is no ADC 3662 available

  • Now i tried it with ADC 3663 there i can upload the firmware but if i tap capture (settings were done) i got this message

My USER_LED2 is turned on but now i dont know how i can solve this problem.

  • Quirin,

This looks like an issue with the clock source going to the TSW1400EVM from the ADC board. If using the ADC board in external clock mode, you must provide both a sample clock (SMA J9) and DCLKIN (J7) to the ADC EVM. If using this mode, what frequency and amplitude are the clock sources providing? What mode is the ADC configured for?

If using the ADC with internal clock mode mode, you must modify the board per section 5.1 of the User's Guide.

    Regards,

    Jim

  • Quirin,

I got your setup running with our hardware. See attached document.

  • Sorry for the late reply. We are using the internal clock. We modified the board as described in 5.1. . We also did the settings for the ADC35xx.. Gui as described.

  • Hi Quirin,

Using the onboard clocking should be fine if you modified the board as described in the user guide. In the image of the GUI, you are configuring the part into 1-wire, real decimation mode - is this your desired configuration? I will need to create a .ini file for you to download to capture card in order to run in this configuration.

  • HiAmy,

I tried the configuration in every single combination but i allways get the same Error message. I selected in this picture for Device Variant 3661/2 is this the wrong device should i select 3663 alltough i have a 3662.

  • Hi Quirin,

When the 'connected' green status light appears on the GUI, the 'Device Variant' section should read the internal ID of the ADC and auto-select the device it sees connected. If working properly, this is not an option that you should have to select.

Try this - sometimes, multiple instances of the GUI executable begin running in the background and the GUI launches more than once. Go into the task manager section on you PC and ensure that only one instance of the GUI is running. It is correctly connected if you launch the GUI and the 'Device Variant' automatically displays the ADC3661/2.

    Regards, Amy

  • Hi Amy, I realy tried every single option but i allways get the same message. Please send me if its possible a step by step instruktion how i can solve my problems. I just have a adc3662evm and a tsw1400evm and i want to test it with the internal clock.

  • Hi Quirin,

User LED3 should come on if the clocking signals are getting through to the capture card. The “Read DDR to file” error will occur if this LED does not turn on.

Since the board has been modified to use onboard clocking, try probing the DCLKIN and sample clock (Fs) signals. For DCLKIN, try probing R60 and R62. For the sample clock, try probing R41 and R51. These signals should match the frequencies as configured in the GUI.
