ADS1231: A pulse is present on the input

Part Number: ADS1231

Hi,

I already use the ADS1231 in a previous board and it worked well.

Now I just reviewed this board and I noted that the measure was very noisy.

I configured the ADC with speed high. At the power on I send a power down pulse at PDWn to reset the ADC and I can see the DOUT and SCK signals: it seems to work well.

Measuring the input voltage at the input of the ADC (between AINP and AINN) I can see a pulse with 5ms and voltage af 100mV.

Is there any reason that can cause this pulse?

I would exclude that the ADC is faulty.

Before the input pin I placed some LC filter on the input as on the sensing signals.

Thank you in advance for your support

  • Hi Serafino,

That is a pretty large pulse.  As I don't have your schematic, it is difficult to say what might be causing it.  Can you provide the schematic?  Do you have any oscilloscope shots you can share?  What sensor is connected to the inputs?

You would first need to determine the source of the pulse.  It could be power supply related, or possibly from noise pickup from a variety of external sources.

    Best regards,
