ADS131A04: When is "device set data rate"?

Part Number: ADS131A04

Hi team,

In 9.5.2.3.5, it said that "In synchronous slave mode, DRDY is an input signal that must be pulsed at the device set data rate", what does " device set data rate" means?

My understanding is that data rate is related to CLKIN, when CLKIN apply to device, device will set data rate. So the moment at device set data rate is when device is chosen by CS pull low.

Is that correct?

Thanks!

Rayna

  • Hello Rayna,

You almost have it. CLKIN frequency does relate to datarate, but the values of ICLK_DIV[2:0] and OSR[3:0] determine the modulator clock frequency and eventually the data-rate through the oversampling ratio (OSR). You can learn more from this TI Precision Labs video here: https://training.ti.com/ti-precision-labs-sar-delta-sigma-basic-operation

See the appropriate slide below from that video.

After that, yes, "The data frame begins with a high-to-low CS transition with or after DRDY transitions low". 9.5.2.3.6 Synchronous Slave Peripheral Mode Data Retrieval has more details.

    Best,
