TVP70025i sync timing

Hi,

I'm a newbie to video... I'm trying to wrap my head around TVP70025i sync timing. Examining the datasheet, it seems to imply that the discrete sync signals:

HSYNC <- acts like a line valid signal

VSYNC <- acts like a frame valid signal

Is this correct?

Correct, HSYNC occurs once per line "n" pixels prior to start of active video. VSYNC occurs once per field "n" lines prior to start of the first active line. "n" varies depending on the video or graphics format. With interlaced formats (480i, 1080i) a complete frame is comprised of two interlaced fields, with each field having its own VSYNC.
