ADS1278-SP: MIL-PRF-38535L Screening + Group A/B/C/D

Part Number: ADS1278-SP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADC128S102-SEP

Dear All,

as per a previous thread, this component has not a SMD number because the fab is not QML qualified.

I need to know if TI offers additional (Class V) MIL-PRF-38535L Screening + Groups A/B/C/D (LotAcceptanceTesting) for this part type, or if I need to ask to an external test facility. Unluckily components "as is" cannot be used in our project.

If TI is able to offer MIL-PRF-38535L Screening + LAT, do I need to write a Procurement Specification or is there a TI drawing already defined?

BR

  • Hi Emiliano,

Seeing as you have evidently read some of the older posts on this topic, I will only briefly reiterate the commentary here for any future readers of this particular thread and to summarize the situation.

For most intents and purposes the existing ADS1278MHFQ-MLS is equivalent to what would be called ADS1278QMLV-SP. The production and qualification flow for this MHFQ-MLS suffix is identical and already approved by the DLA. The only thing stopping this from full QMLV status is for the DLA to audit the fabrication site, which must be done in person. In fact, this has been scheduled but not yet completed due to delays incurred over the past several months due to COVID-19 travel restrictions both on behalf of the US Government and local municipalities to the fabrication site.

Seeing that this has come up a few times, I have requested that the team work on a Production Flow & Reliability report, similar to what you can find for the ADC128S102-SEP here for the ADS1278MHFQ-MLS. That was scheduled to be in a draft state by today, I will check on this status, and soon to follow available on TI.com.

I would suggest that we use that documentation as a jumping off point for this. If it answers your questions that is great - if there are gaps then we will address those individually.

When it comes time to share the draft, before it is published to TI.com, we can either proceed with a private message on the E2E forum or with email if you are okay with me contacting you via the email address you used to register with your myTI.com account.

  • Hi Kevin,

many thanks for your answer, the suggested report could help a lot, please contact me via the email address I have used to register with myTI.com account when the draft can be shared.
