I would like to know how critical the cap across the reference voltage pins (REFP/REFM) is toward the performance of this device? The recommendation is 10uF, would the use of a 4.7uf (SMT Ceramic X7R) be adequate and how would the performance be affected specifically? Thanks.

  • Hi Michael,

The capacitor on the reference input is there to ensure that the reference input is stable and well decoupled. Doing so, will help ensure that you get the best performance out of the device. I don't think a 10uF is absolutely necessary and a 4.7uF cap should be just fine.
