ADS42JB49EVM: GUI Guide

Part Number: ADS42JB49EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK04828, LMK04832

Hi team,

Do we have any detailed GUI guide?

Some of the functions in the GUI are hard to follow and know what each field is doing. The EVM User's Guide doesn't give a lot of detail. In particular, understanding the GUI for configuring the onboard LMK clock generator would be helpful.

Thanks,

Jacob

  • Hi Jacob,

No, we don't have any additional guide for using the GUI. Which functions are confusing for the ADC?

In most of our high speed ADC GUI for devices which use a JESD204B/B interface, we will use either the LMK04828 or the LMK04832. Both of these are JESD204 clocking devices which allow for optional jitter cleaning (via using PLL1), optional clock generation (via PLL2), and/or division and distribution of the clock (and sysref) to up to 7 devices (ADC/DAC/FPGA/SMA connector/etc.) Typically, we route the external clock input through CLKin1 allowing us to bypass the PLLs and use the LMK device only for clock division and distribution. Does this help at all? I know this is a very high level overview on the LMK04828 device and you may have more questions. If so, I imagine it will be better to set up a call to go over this instead as there is a lot of functionality for the LMK devices.

    Thanks, Chase

  • Thanks Chase. I'll pass along the comments and close this out for now. Should there be more questions, we'll plan to organize a call.

  • Ok Jacob, that'll work! This isn't the first time (and won't be the last) that these LMK parts have caused confusion for customers who are using our JESD interfaced EVMs. I'll try to work on some kind of collateral so we can more easily explain how these work.

    Thanks, Chase
