DAC63204EVM: SLAC811-DAC63204EVM Software doesn't start up

Part Number: DAC63204EVM

Hello,

Trying to use DAC63204EVM evaluation board I downloaded the softwareSLAC811-DAC63204EVM and installed it on a Windows 10 machine.
When I try to run it , the splash screen appears but get stucked on "Loading main.vi"
after few hours it remains the same. Do you have any clue on how to solve this?

Many Thanks
J. Morant

  • Hi J,

Have you plugged the EVM into your computer? We've seen this issue with a few of our similar GUIs. Our initial thinking is that there is some file that the GUI calls that is not actually created on the computer until the EVM has been connected to the computer at least one time Can you try this and let us know if it fixes your problem?

    Best,

    Katlynne Jones

  • Dear Katlynne,
many thanks for your answer. Unfortunately with or without the board plugged on USB port the soft still behave the same.
    Thanks for your help
    Johan

  • Hi Johan,

Can you check your device manager to see if you see the two FT4222 interfaces connected when you have the EVM plugged in?

Are there any other windows that the GUI opens up on the screen when you see the "Loading main.vi" message?

Did you change the default location when you installed the software?

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software?

    Best,

    Katlynne Jones

  • Hi Katlynne,
When the EVM is plugged , we see both FT4222.
there is no other windows opened.

No we didn't change the default location folder.

yes I tried few times to uninstall and reinstall the software, same result.
    Many thanks

    Johan

  • Hi Johan.,

Can you search for file explorer options in the start menu and enable hidden files, folders, and drivers:

Or check the following box in the view tab from the file explorer:

Then, can you check the C:\ProgramData folder. There should be a folder called Texas Instruments with another folder called DAC63204EVM.

    (C:\ProgramData\Texas Instruments\DAC63204EVM).

If it exists, can you open the .ini file in and check that demo is set to true. If not, set it to true as shown below.

If the folder does not exist, please create the two folders in Program Data exactly as shown in the path above, and copy this .ini file into the folder.

    https://e2e.ti.com/cfs-file/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/73/DAC63204EVM.ini

Try relaunching the GUI after making these changes.

    Best,

    Katlynne Jones

  • Hi Katlynne,
Both folders neither ini files weren't present on my machine, So I created/copied them.

after plugging the EVM and restarted the GUI , I still meet the same behavior.

    Many thanks Johan

  • Hi Johan,

Another user has reported this issue, so we need to dig into a bit and see what is happening.  Katlynne and I will be working on this today and tomorrow morning, and will get a solution to you ASAP.

    Thanks,

    Paul

  • Hi Johan,

Can you share a screenshot of the splash screen? There should be a loading bar at the bottom and we would like to see that.

Can we also email you directly with the email you have registered on e2e?

    Best,

    Katlynne Jones

  • Hi Katlynne, Paul,

I tried as suggested to run the executable as administrator with no success.
    Many thanks

    Johan
