DAC7822: Updating DAC with R/W signal tied to low always.

Part Number: DAC7822

Hi,

We are planning in using DAC7822 in one of our project, we intend to use it only on writing mode. So I was wondering if that the L/W control signal could be tied to logic-low(writing mode) all the time, instead of having it to be driven by either an FPGA or microprocessor. This is unclear to me from the Datasheet as in the timing diagram you have a R/W high to CS low timing requirement of 5 ns.

  • Hi Claudia,

You are able to tie R/W (pin 23) to ground and only write to the DAC7822 if you wish. The "R/W high to CS low" timing requirement only means that if you are planning to read the DAC, you must have R/W high for 5 ns before the falling edge of CS. If R/W is grounded, then CS will be controlling when data is written to the DAC. Make sure any CS low times are at least 10 ns as well.

    Thanks,
    Lucas
