ADS1263: Will ADS1262EVM-PDK support ADS1263?

Part Number: ADS1263
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADCPRO, , ADS1262

Will the ADS1262EVM-PDK support ADS1263?

(I have the '1262EVM' but need to eval the '1263.)  I plan to desolder the '1262 and attach a socket (or the '1263).

Thanks!

  • The '1263EVM has more function/capability with ADC Pro (MMB0 attached).  The 2 eval boards share one User Guide.  There is one schematic, which is identical except for the ADC126x.  I see no "signature resistor" or other distinguishing feature to allow software to distinguish.  Wanted to know before de-re-soldering the 'EVM.

  • Hi Rick Jones78,

To confirm, you want to use the ADCPro software with the ADS1262EVM, and replace the ADS1262 with the ADS1263, correct?

The daughtercard has an EEPROM on it to identify the device, so I need to check with the designer if this will cause an issue.

Let me get back to you on this

  • Exactly correct, Bryan!  Sounds like I may need either:

    (1) the U4 EEPROM with the '1263 firmware (are these available?) or

    (2) more '1263EVM boards.

  • Hi Rick,

I talked to the board designer, the EEPROM just reads that the EVM is an "ADS126x", and does not distinguish between the devices.

ADCPro reads the ID register from the ADC itself to determine which ADC is on the board. Therefore, installing an ADS1263 on an ADS1262EVM should work fine. If you are successful, please let us know.
