ADS112C04EVM: ads112c04 evm board

Hi, I'm jun hyeob in KOREA, 

I wonder that i can use ads122c04 instead of ads112c04 chip on evm. 

I mean, if i use jumper to connect the same pin map in evm and ads112c04.

Then Could i use ads122c04 on the ads112c04 evm board?

(Currently I have ads112c04 evm, and ads122c04 chip) 

(+) if RED LED(D2) turn on on the evm board, what situation that i faced?

    The ADS112C04 and the ADS122C04 are the same device device except that the ADS112C04 only outputs 16 bits of conversion data.  So it would be possible to replace the ADS112C04 with the ADS122C04.  However the firmware is still setup to use the ADS112C04 and will report that information back to the GUI.  Also, the firmware will only read 16 instead of 24 bits of conversion data without changing the firmware as well as the ADC.  The firmware can be changed, but the process is a bit complicated and some customers that have tried this in the past have had issues getting the EVM to work at all after the attempt.

    In the end, the differences in performance are shown in the datasheets and you can compare the devices by looking at the noise tables.  If you intend on using data output rates of 175 or greater, you will not see any improvement due to conversion noise.  There is only a slight improvement at 90sps. 

    So I don't think that it is worth the effort to change out the devices unless there is a very important reason to do so as there is not a huge gain in performance unless you are using high gain at 20sps.  In many cases the sensor and wiring connections to the EVM will create more noise than the resolution of the ADC.  For example, if you are seeing less than 16-bit resolution using the ADS112C04, you will not see better resolution by using the ADS122C04.

    As to the red LED, this is indicating a communication error.  This could be I2C addressing, NACK, etc..
