ADS7883: About the best voltage reference IC for ADS7883SB

Part Number: ADS7883
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: REF5050, REF5030

Hi Support,

We are looking for the best voltage reference IC for ADS7883.
Please tell me know if there is a recommended voltage reference IC
Also, please tell me how many ADS7883 can be driven by that IC.

  • Hello,

TI offers a wide selection of linear and low-dropout regulators (LDOs). Using our parametric search, you can filter out some part selection based on selectable criteria such as output voltage, package size, cost , max output current and others.

As far as how many IC's can be driven, well, this depends on the maximum output current rating. The ADS7883 consumes a max of 4mA with 5V supply and a 3MSPS throughput. So let's say the LDO has 100mA output current capability, you can fit > 20 ADS7883 IC's. The data sheet also recommends using a REF5050 or REF5030 reference IC's but these do not allow for higher output current and are limited to ~10mA so driving multiple ADCs is likely not recommended.

For more detailed questions on LDO's and the reference IC's, please reach out to the Power Management Forum (linked).

    Regards,
    Aaron
