TVP5146M2 - Frame Capture Rate

Hi,

We have a design based around TVP5146M2 and the video input format is CVBS PAL. What our HW is at the moment is an external mux which feeds one of the video inputs to the TVP5146, the mux is on the main board and the TVP5146 is populated on the CPU module. Ideally we'd like to increase our frame capture rate with minimal HW changes. Best case scenario would be to only have to modify the CPU module and not the main board.

The TVP5146 has internal multiplexers for multiple video inputs as well, so my question for TI is, would the frame/field re-sync time improve if the video switching was done internally instead of externally ?

Hello DeeJay,

The TVP5146M2 horizontal and vertical lock time should be roughly the same when using internal or external multiplexers.

Hello James,

Thanks for the quick reply. Actually we are using the TVP5146 and not the TVP5146M2 but planning to in our new design since the former is NRND. I wonder if there is any improvement made for the frame capture rate in the M2 version compared to the other. I would appreciate if you know the answer.

I'm not aware of any specific improvements in the horizontal or vertical lock time in the TVP5146M2.
