Hi team,

i want to test the ADC32RF54 data converter.

My test setup is composed by the ADC32RF5x EVM REV. B and the TSW14J58 REV. A

The proper software must be installed before beginning evaluation:

ADC32RF5xEVM GUI Installation

Download the GUI installer from the EVM tool folder at https://www.ti.com/tool/ADC32RF54EVM ---> I have not found available this installer. Can you help me?

High Speed Data Converter Pro GUI Installation

Download HSDC Pro GUI installer ---> OK

Extract the installation files from the downloaded zip file ---> OK

Run setup.exe and follow the installation prompts to complete installation ---> OK

GUI Setup

Open High Speed Data Converter Pro (HSDC Pro) and select the TSW14J58 ---> OK

Select the device firmware labeled ADC32RF5x_8224_12G-16G and update the firmware by pressing Yes on the pop-up window and waiting for the Downloading Firmware message to finish. ---> i have not found available this firmware. Can you help me?

Hi Matteo,

Typically, the FT_INVALID_DEVICE message will occur under one of two conditions: The first is trying to download firmware while the USB 3.0 cable is not connected, or the port is held open by another instance of software, or the USB port is non-functional. The second is when the TSW14J58EVM power supply cannot source an adequate amount of current during the firmware download process. How many amps is the 6V supply rated for? If it is less than 4 amps, the FPGA may have issues downloading firmware due to this alone, so we recommend having plenty of headroom and suggest a 6V@5A current supply. To rule out a bad USB port, I suggest to remove the ADC32RF54EVM USB cable from the PC and use this port for the TSW14J58EVM USB 3.0 connector.

Can you try these things and let me know the result?

Hi Chase,

thank you for the answer.

I set the 12V @ 2A and 6V @5A.

After repeated power on of the 6V, i downloaded the FW. See the following image:

Is the FW version correct?

The final current absorption is 2.13A on 6V and 0.92A on 12V.

After this, i can try to program the ADC but i have the following error:


Can you help me?

Hi Matteo,

The FW version on the FPGA (1p2G-16G_IID_11) is correct.

For the ADC GUI, please verify that the clock signal generator is on and connected to EXTCLK and also run the EVM GUI as an administrator. On some PC's running as an administrator is required while on others, it is not, so I recommend to always run this GUI as an administrator to avoid running into this issue. Please let me know the result.

i solved all the problems. So i have configured correctly the FPGA and ADC.

Do you have some application note about the SNR averaging method?
