DAC8742H: use case of TX_AMP

Part Number: DAC8742H

Hi team,

Under what circumstances would the TX_AMP amplitude adjustment feature be required?

Please advise.

Thanks,

  • Hi,

The TX_AMP field is able to be configured in order to provide greater flexibility for the HART output to make up for resistor tolerances or error in the V-I conversion stage. This can allow customers to use cheaper resistors with less precision since they can adjust the TX_AMP to have their desired output.

    Thanks,
    Lucas

  • Lucas-san,

    Which resistor do you mention?

  • Atsushi-san,

Some customers attach the HART output to a circuit to either reduce the Vpp to a much smaller value or directly convert the output to a current output. By allowing the HART output amplitude to be adjustable, if there is error in the resistors and capacitors in the circuit, it can be countered by adjusting the TX_AMP. This also means resistors with less precision can be used if needed for cost.

Let me know if you have any other questions,
    Lucas
