ADS7828: Compatibility with non-I2C sensors

Hello,

I am interested in using I2C protocol to read data from various sensors on a PCB. The other sensors I've placed on the PCB so far have I2C compatibility, though I also required a Hall sensor, TMCS1107-Q1, which is not directly I2C-compatible. Would connecting the Hall sensor to the ADC ADS7828 (which is I2C compatible) allow reading of the Hall sensor by I2C protocol?

Yes. The Hall sensor is an analog out device. It does not have a digital interface. The analog output should connect to an I2C ADC to meet your goals. The ADS7828 is a good option for an I2C analog to digital converter.

That's great! So just to clarify, the I2C ADC allows a non-I2C-compatible analog device to connect to I2C protocol?

Yes. I2C is a type of digital interface that is used to connect the device to a microcontroller. Analog devices like the Hall sensor do not have a digital interface so they need to connect to an analog to digital converter and the analog to digital converter connects to the microcontroller.
