ADC3664EVM: The waveform when input full scale sine wave to ADC3664

Part Number: ADC3664EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADC3664,

Hi,

1. Regarding ADC3664, the absolute maximum rating of the AINP/M and BINP/M pins is 2.1V. It also states that the typical input common voltage is 0.95V and the input full-scale differential voltage is 3.2V.
If each terminal swings 1.6V with 0.95V as common, it seems that the terminal voltage exceeds the absolute maximum rating.
What is the waveform when input full scale sine wave to ADC3664?

2. If you know where to modify when using ADC3664EVM with DC coupling, could you tell me?

Thanks,

Astro

  • Astro,

Each leg will swing +0.8V to -0.8V centered around 0.95V for a full-scale 3.2V differential input. So the max voltage the input pins will see is 0.95 + 0.8V = 1.75V, which is below the 2.1V max rating. If you monitor the waveform on each input pin, it would be 1.6V p-p centered around 0.95V.

By default, the EVM is configured for DC coupling using the on-board amplifiers.

  • Hi, Jim

The datasheet states that the ADC3664 input full scale is 3.2Vpp. In that case, wouldn't it be 0.95±1.6v?

    Thanks,

  • Astro,

If using a differential probe across both input pins, yes. If using a single-ended probe looking at one input, it would be 0.95V +/- 0.8V.

    Regards,

    Jim
