DAC63204: Current output dependency on internal / external Vref

Part Number: DAC63204

In regards to the DAC63204 component, the datasheet mentions it can provide a +/-250uA current output if some register values are changed. Does the applied reference voltage play a factor in the obtainable current output range? Or is the internal/external voltage not taken into account when providing the current?

  • Hi Steve,

No, the internal/external reference (chosen in the DAC-X-VOUT-CMP-CONFIG Register) does not affect the current output range. The current output range is configured in the DAC-X-IOUT-MISC-CONFIG Register for the respective channel:

And the output is changed using the DAC-X-DATA Register based on the equation given in the current output mode section:

Each channel is set to be in current or voltage output mode in the COMMON-CONFIG Register.

So if you are in current mode you set the range via the DAC-X-IOUT-MISC-CONFIG Register and if you are in voltage mode the range is set by the reference and gain setting chosen in the DAC-X-VOUT-CMP-CONFIG Register.

    Best,
